Paging Pearly Whites

Your dentist wants $500 for whitening and you singe your gums with at-home kits – but, uh, you look like you brush with a yellow crayon. So what’s a girl to do? Fret not: GoSMILE is the new, on-the-go solution to sparkly-white teeth. It really doesn’t get easier: gel-filled ampoules to brush on daily, with no water or awkward drying required. (They look like tiny, white erasers.) Just keep the little scrubbers in your purse – or in my case, at my desk, where I get funny looks from the mail-guy – and expect a white, traffic-stopping smile in about a week. So c’mon, show us that smile!

GoSMILE Supports Autism Research

A great cause to smile about, lemony-fresh, white teeth included: April is Autism Awareness Month—an endeavor that raises awareness about autism, a disease affecting a baby every 20 minutes in the U.S.—and, in its honor, G0SMILE is donating a portion of proceeds from their Lemonade Smile toothpaste to Autism Speaks. "Every day thousands of familiar affected by autism choose to make lemonade from their lemons with their advocacy, commitment and action," said Alison Singer, Senior V.P. of Autism Speaks. "[We are] very fortunate to have advocates like Josh and the team at GoSMILE. This opportunity will not only raise vital funds to support autism research, but will also help shine a bright light on autism, which now affects 1 in 166 people." Even sweeter: To go along with the zesty paste, GoSMILE COO Josh Shaw wrote Who Invented Lemonade? The Power of Positive Perspective—a story about overcoming obstacles and turning lemons into lemonade—the proceeds of which will also benefit Autism Speaks.

Do You Breathe Grape or Banana Monkey?

Mint toothpaste? Bo-ring. A Japanese company called Margaret Josefin is spicing up that daily brush with “Breath Palette,” a line of exotically flavored toothpastes and mouthwashes. (They’re now available in the U.S. for the first time.) So if you’re tired of smelling like Grandpa’s peppermint gargle—or, you know, need a new reason to brush every day—take a look at the list of 32 flavors. But for the sake of your fellow citizens, just promise you won’t pick “Indian Curry.”

Show Me That Smile

The folks at GoSMILE must be beaming. We touted their tooth-whitening products a few weeks ago—namely, their cute, pocket-sized ampoules—and it seems WWD has followed suit. GoSMILE creator Jonathan Levine talked market expansion with the magazine, explaining his philosophy that “prestige can have an oral care category.” After all, just a year ago, Levine was airing his products on a simple infomercial. Now? He just appeared on the Home Shopping Network and sells his posh polishers at Sephora and dozens of top salons and spas. (He’s even added fruity flavors to his collection. Those fancy ampoules now come in pear, peach, and mint.) GoSMILE has a host of products out this season—Advanced Formula B1 Tooth Whitening On The Go, Lemonade Smile, Touch Up Refills, etc.—so kiss those yellow-fuzzy-sweater teeth behind. Oh, and make-up with that cup of Joe you thought was tarnishing your pearly whites, too. Looks like you're covered.

Speaking of Colds ...

You scrub your hands after the dirty subway; you steer away from sneezing, goopy, little kids; you drink gallons of water. And somehow, against all odds and efforts, you still get a pesky cold. But don’t sob into that soggy tissue just yet. GoSMILE makes a breath freshener called “Elixir Good-For-You Breath Freshener” that, oddly enough, seems to have a secret cold-fighting power too. (Many Elixer-lovers say they haven’t had a single cold since they stared using it!) The mist is full of antioxidants and vitamins—unlike that neon-blue rubbing alcohol Gramps gargles with—and GoSMILE is calling it a “cold season must-have.” And hey, if not? At least you'll have sparkling, minty-fresh breath as you cough all over that cute guy in line. Aww, comment romantique.
