With all this talk about keeping "green," I no longer simply recycle my Poland Springs or weekend Corona bottles. No, I rinse out shampoo bottles, soap dispensers, and even have begun snatching plastic out of the hands of strangers to be sure it ends up in a recycling bin. Seems I haven't gone too far: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios has announced that their October event in Culver City, CA, will be more eco-friendly than ever. "Society is increasingly aware about its impact on the environment, from the clothes we wear to the vehicles we drive," says Carol Goll, of Mercedes-Benz USA. Not only will Fashion Week production materials be eco-conscious—the event will also encourage designers to use fabrics and fibers that take it easy on Mother Earth. Another stand-up-and-applaud moment will be when Mercedes shows off its latest clean diesel technology, Bluetec. With clothiers like Stella McCartney and H&M already using organic cotton and biodegradable materials, we can't wait to see which fashion and beauty moguls will jump on the green wagon next. —Brianne Rieck, Sephora
