Inglot: Duraline Review

A product that makes it possible for other products to multi-task - that's always a good thing and that's what Duraline can do for eyeshadows. It's something similar to others on the market, like Eve Pearl's Shadow Mixer and Sealer.

According to Inglot
Duraline is a special transforming liquid that will turn any Inglot powder eyeshadow into a liquid formulation.

Use one small drop of Duraline mixed with any pressed or loose eyeshadow. This transforms the eyeshadow into a concentrated fluid texture that can be used as a gel eyeshadow or liquid eye liner. Mixing Duraline with eyeshadow ensures that the colour will resist creasing, smudging or fading.

Price: €10 for 9ml

Ingredients
Isododecane, Bis-vinyl Dimethicone/Dimethicone Copolymer, Capryl Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Hexylene Glycol.

It's a clear liquid, thicker than water.

In the instructions, Inglot advises to dispense a drop of Duraline on the back of the hand, wet a brush with it, then blend into any pressed or loose eyeshadow and apply.

I do it slightly differently: a drop of Duraline on the back of the hand, pick up eyeshadow from pan with (dry) brush, then mix the eyeshadow with the Duraline on the hand and apply. I do this as I prefer to keep my eyeshadows in the pan 'untainted'.

The possibilities are limitless, if you extend its use to beyond Inglot eyeshadows. I'm sure Duraline has been tried on eyeshadows from other brands too (well, there is actually no advice against that). I myself have tried Duraline with loose pigments from other brands only a couple of times but I don't think I will be venturing much further. Call me paranoid but I know nothing about how Duraline changes the chemical composition of any willy-nilly non-Inglot eyeshadow. I mean, would the mixture be toxic for the skin? Perhaps it's not a big deal but I just thought I'd give my two cents' worth. If it doesn't matter to you, then there're certainly many possibilities to explore with Duraline!

My observations about its conversion of eyeshadows to liquid eyeshadows or eyeliners:

• Takes a while to dry, about three-four minutes.
• Once absolutely dry, the eyeshadow stays put.
• Does not smudge.
• When rubbed on hard, does not smudge but a teeny tiny bit does rub off on finger.
• Does not fade.
• Is waterproof
• As eyeshadow, not quite as crease-resistant on my lids as hoped. This is less of an issue as an eyeliner.

Here are some pictures of how the back of my hand looks after messing around with Duraline and the Inglot Eye Shadow Matte 332, and what happens as I try different things:

Duraline with Inglot Eye Shadow Matte 332 - dried

L: Rubbed on with water; R: A few very hard swipes with cotton pad and normal eye makeup remover

With cotton pad and waterproof eye makeup remover, L: single swipe; R: three/four further swipes

I applied this mixture as an eyeshadow to see how crease-resistant it is. These photos were taken five hours apart:

It's not 100% crease-resistant, as you can see, but like I always say, I do have inward folding lids. It probably works better on some other ladies.

I like using it for converting eyeshadows to eyeliners. It works great. At €10, I think it's good value for money. I've used it many times since I bought it in May - one or two little drops each time - and the volume level has sunk only about 3mm.

Here are two eye looks that I've done in the past. In both, I used Duraline for eyelining.

Inglot: Lipstick Review

Here's another item that I got in May at the then newly opened Inglot store in Amsterdam.

I'll cut to the chase. You would remember that Inglot loves numbers, so this lipstick has been given the very memorable identity of No. 103. It's a bright coral. There is red (like tomato red) but No. 103 borders on orange. Well, it's just flirting, it's not quite orange.

I like this lipstick. It scores high marks for great pigmentation. It has a slight sheen but I'm more inclined to call it a matte. It applies soft, smooth and creamy. Lovely.

It does have fragrance though. It smells like cherry and I do find the scent quite strong in the first couple of minutes after application.

Although I didn't think this lipstick was too drying if applied on bare lips, I find its feel/texture on the lips to be ideal when applied on a light coat of lipbalm (as seen in the lip photos here).

On me, one good application lasts half a day but by then, it's about 60-70% faded. It fades evenly, leaving a flattering tint on the lips.

Good lipstick, I say. I have no complaints and the price isn't too bad either: €12.

Face: Among Willows

I seriously love wearing my two blue Inglot eyeshadows but I solemnly promise to give my other almost-orphaned eyeshadows a fair share of time in the limelight in future looks.

For this look, the style of application is pretty much the same as what I had shown in the Inglot: Blue And Green Eye Look, only this time, I didn't do a mirrored wing on the lower lash line. There is no characteristic gap in the lining on the outer corners. Here, the dark blue eyeshadow and lining envelope the entire outer corner.

I haven't got very big eyes but I do find that this method of application greatly helps to define, enlarge and deepen my eyes.

Products used:

Face
Jane Iredale Disappear Concealer - Medium Light (uhmm, copious amount)
Jane Iredale PurePressed Mineral Foundation - Warm Sienna

Cheeks
Jane Iredale Twice Blushed Cheek Colour Kit 1 - Ginger (top - the darker of the two)

Eyes
Too Faced Shadow Insurance (not shown)
Inglot AMC Eye Shadow 68 - medium blue with shimmer
Inglot Eye Shadow Matte 332 - matte dull navy blue
GOSH Velvet Touch Eye Liner - Black Ink
Josie Maran GOGO Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara

Lips
PUPA Diva's Rouge Lipstick - Euphoria Red (only lightly stained)
Catrice Colour Show Lip Gloss - Pink Me Up

A simple face to match the simple outfit that, in turn is offset by a crude necklace. More photos here.

Inglot: Blue And Green Eye Look

I thought I'd show an eye makeup look that is similar to the Teardrops On Georgette post. The difference is that I had used two kinds of blue eyeshadows (one light, one dark) for that one. This one here uses the same method but instead of dark blue, I used a dark green.

Inglot L: AMC Eye Shadow 68; R: Eye Shadow Matte 340

This is also a good opportunity to say something about the lighter blue eyeshadow - Inglot AMC Eye Shadow 68. I had said last month that its pigmentation fell rather short of expectations. Well, it looks like the pigmentation has improved with more use. It has indeed taken many uses and it looks like the I've finally gotten past the imprint.

Inglot AMC Eye Shadow 68 (three/four swipes each): Then (L) and Now (R)

Anyway, back to the look. I've been wearing this kind of
eye look quite a lot lately. All that I needed to do for variation was change the colour combinations and the style of the bottom eyelining. If the colours look heavy to you, well, with the way my eyelids fold, most of the colour would disappear under the fold when I open my eyes fully. See image right.

The eyelining for the top lash line is conventional. It is the bottom lash line that gets the wing-ed lining. I featured this method once before with ELLIS FAAS eyeshadows: Eye Look With Light IV.

I used:

L-R
Inglot AMC Eye Shadow 68 - intense cornflower blue with shimmer (palette - top left)
Inglot Eye Shadow Matte 340 - matte midnight green (palette - bottom right)
Inglot Duraline
GOSH Velvet Touch Eye Liner - Black Ink
Josie Maran GOGO Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara (received from Jeanie)

L-R: Inglot AMC Eye Shadow 68, Inglot Eye Shadow Matte 340, Inglot Eye Shadow Matte 340+Duraline, GOSH Black Ink

What I did after applying eyeshadow primer:

Upper lid

- dark green eyeshadow along the whole lash line and higher (in my case, where the lid folds and almost disappears)

- light blue eyeshadow just above the dark green

- used the Duraline with the dark green eyeshadow for liquid eyelining

- wing-ed it (the wing effect is subtle because it's green on green)

- tightlined with the black pencil liner

Lower lash line

- repeat the liquid eyelining step with the Duraline and the dark green eyeshadow

- wing it, ie. a reverse of how it would be for the upper lash line (avoid connecting this green eyelining with that of the upper lash line)

- light blue eyeshadow on the dark green eyelining to give it some shimmer

Curled lashes and applied mascara.

Tip: If you have problems with keeping a neat gap in the eyelining between the upper and the lower lash line, use a cotton bud with eyemakeup remover to 'clean' up the gap.

It is very simple and understated, with a tad more emphasis on the eyes - the blue to match the georgette blouse. For the cheeks and lips, I used the multi-tasking Josie Maran Argan Color Stick in Petal Pink (a sheer sweet pink) which I got from the lovely Jeanie of Makeup Merriment a while back.
