Wet n Wild Sparked & Wild Orchid

Above & Below: Wild Orchid is more purple than it looks in the photos and the glitter really comes to life in brighter lighting.
Below: Sparked is a medium-toned mauve/pink shade with a high concentration of glitter.

These are a couple of Wet n Wild polishes I picked up at Walmart not too long ago, and for 97 cents each, you really can't go wrong. Sparked is a mauvey pink tone with tons of glitter and sparkle in a clear base. I used three coats, but it dried quickly and surprised me with how smooth the finish was. It would work well as a top coat over a darker shade, also. Wild Orchid covered nicely in 2 coats and try as I might, I couldn't get the true color to photograph. It's actually a purple shade, but it's showing blue or violet blue in the pictures. This reminds me very much of Color Club's Wild at Heart because it's very close in color and it has the same type of small, almost holographic glitter.

Wet n Wild Festive Flirt Holiday 2009

Above & Below: Holly is a darker red shimmer with red and gold glitter. Shown with 3 coats.
Below: I topped Holly off with a coat of Gilded, which is a light gold glitter with both small, traditional glitter and hexagonal glitter.

Below: Gilded is shown on it's own in 3 coats and also layered in 2 coats over OPI Midnight in Moscow. I actually like Gilded on it's own, as it gives enough coverage to look substantial.

Below: Gumdrop, a coppery-gold shade with small glitter, is shown using 3 coats and also layered in 2 coats over China Glaze's Gussied Up Green. I don't care for Gumdrop too much on it's own.

Below: 2 coats of Frostbite, a foil finish glitter with great coverage in 2 coats.

I picked these up back in September at Meijer and thought I'd check them out now that's it's a little closer to Christmas! They recently appeared at Rite Aid also. This is a 6 piece collection of shades in red (3), gold (2) and silver (1) and can be found in a tabletop display for $1.99 each. The shades are shimmers and glitters and the bottles are small, at .029 fl. oz. I picked up 4 of the 6 because I didn't need 2 more red shades that look similar to other polishes I have. The 2 I didn't get are Ho, Ho, Ho (a basic medium red shimmer) and Red Velvet (a slightly darker version of Holly, found in this collection). It's a cute little collection and the colors are festive and holiday-like, but it's nothing terribly exciting. I do like Gumdrop and Gilded for the layering possibilities they offer, but Frostbite is very similar to 2 others I already have (Color Club Smoke & Mirrors and Finger Paints Easel Come, Easel Go). Holly is very pretty, as it has a little bit of Ruby Pumps going on, but I have a couple of similar colors in OPI's new Holiday Wishes collection.

Wet n Wild Festive Flirt Holiday Bottle Pics

When I was at Meijer last week the sales girl in the cosmetics department told me they had Sally Hansen's new LE HD Display, but wouldn't be putting it out until this week. I've been stalking the shelves ever since hoping to get Opulent Cloud, but they still haven't put the display out yet. I did however, spot Wet n Wild's Festive Flirt Holiday display, although there were a couple of empty slots, so I don't know what those shades were. I picked up 4 of them and there was also another gold (Blitzen) and another red (Ho, Ho, Ho). I'm guessing there are 8 polishes in the collection, and although they are smaller (0.29 fl. oz.) than your average bottle of polish, the colors look to have some unique finishes.


Holly-a deep red shimmer with what appears to be glass flecked shimmer in deep red and gold.

Gilded-a gold glitter with micro gold glitter and larger octagonal multi-colored glitter.

Frostbite-a bright silver shimmer that looks like it would have a foil finish.

Gumdrop-a golden bronze with similar colored micro glitter.


I also located Massini's Fall Promo polishes and several of these are repromoted shades I believe, and 2 of them I'm certain are duplicates found in Color Club's Wild at Heart collection, as Forsythe is the manufacturer of both of these brand lines. There are 9 polishes in this collection, and they had 8 left, so I'm uncertain as to what the other one is. The turquoise and purple glitters are the ones that really caught me eye though. They have no names on the label, just the words "Fall Promo". I'll put these in line for swatching during the upcoming week. So no Opulent Cloud (yet!), but not a wasted trip. I hope everyone enjoys their first weekend of Fall!

Wet n Wild Sparkling Diamonds~Another Great Layering Polish

Above & Below: Wet n Wild Rock Solid Sparkling Diamonds is another inexpensive, yet fantastic layering polish. It's shown here over BB Couture Animal Instinct, which is a dark brown creme.
Below: This photo was taken with no flash, and you can see how dense and even the sparkle/glitter coverage is.
Below: Here's the WnW over BB Couture Cranberry Crush. It's not quite as dramatic over a lighter color, but still adds a nice touch.
Here's another inexpensive layering polish, this one from Wet n Wild's Rock Solid line. In the bottle, this shade is a pale gold that's filled with tiny holographic glitter. What I thought was interesting about this one is how in darker lighting, rather than brighter lighting, the amount of glitter over the nail seems to increase. Another thing I like about it, is because it's holographic, it shifts in the light giving it a somewhat gradient/fade effect. It appears to fade down the length of the nail, but as your hands move around, so does the gradient. It looks as if there's more glitter at the base of the nail, but it's actually evenly distributed. Not bad for less than $2.00!

Wet n Wild Red Tape & Some Wet n Wild Eye Shadow Swatches

Above & Below: Wet n Wild Red Tape is a red creme which has very slight red coral tones, that are more evident in the sunlight photo shown below. I used 2 coats and had no problem with the application. This is a new shade that was recently released.

Above & Below: These swatches on my hand were taken in the sunlight with no flash. These are the shades in the Sweet as Candy trio. I have used this set quite a few times and have had no creasing throughout the day, and the pigmentation is excellent.
Below: The Knock on Wood trio didn't fare as well on me. The colors are not as pigmented, although the wear was very good. The cranberry shade looks lovely in the palette, but is a muddy, almost brick red color on me, while the pink shade is barely noticeable.
A couple of weeks ago I showed you some of the products I picked up from the new Wet n Wild displays that are showing up. You can see the palettes and polishes here, and if you want to take a look at some of the polishes, just search my Wet n Wild label for those. I've swatched most of the polishes, but still have a couple to go, including today's Red Tape. There are also a number of eye shadow palettes with new shades on their updated displays, so I wanted to show you some swatches of those as well.

Red Tape is a very pigmented shade of red with the slightest hint of red coral. It covered very nicely in 2 coats, and although the brush and handle are relatively small, it actually makes for a more controlled application. The formula is quite good also, reminding me of the formula in the new Colours from the CND Colour & Effect line. For $1.89, you really can't go wrong with these.

The palettes I swatched today are trio's, retailing for $2.84 (at Meijer). Each color is embossed with the area on your eye where they are intended to be applied, Browbone, Crease, and Eyelid. They also work well when applied with a wet applicator for additional color depth. Sweet as Candy is my favorite of these two because I prefer the shades (off-white, medium brown, pink) with my eye color (brown), and this palette seems to have more color pay-off. The Knock on Wood palette doesn't seem as pigmented, especially on the pink shade. The Cranberry color is pretty in the case, but when I used it, my eyes almost looked bruised! Perhaps this trio, which includes a pale pink, a medium brown, and the cranberry, would look better on someone with different coloring, but I can't seem to work it right on myself.

Wet n Wild New Megalast Shades!

Above & Below: My personal favorite, Under Your Spell. This is a deep, rich, jewel-toned shade of Black Cherry, with lighter shimmer and a charcoal base. The light reflects off of it in such a way that the edges look darker, framing the color and depth in the center.
Below: Blackmail is a very deep charcoal creme with multi-colored glitter in dark pink, turquoise and coppery gold.
Below: Haze of Love is a muted, yet highly pigmented shade of Persimmon. All of the polishes below are cremes. I should mention that I used 2 coats on all of these shades pictured.
Below: Tropicalia is a Watermelon creme that although not evident in the photo, has a hint of coral, which adds more vibrancy than what you're seeing here, for a somewhat neon effect.
Below: Club Havana is a pastel orange creme. It's not bright, and it's not coral, but rather, a mid-tone range of orange, with a touch of pastel for a softer look.
Continuing my swatching of Wet n Wild's new display offerings, today I have some of the shades I picked up from the Megalast line. If you scroll down to the post below this one, you can see swatches of several of the new shades from their Wild Shine line. The Megalast polishes were priced at $1.89, vs. 97¢ for the Wild Shine polishes. This line is also packaged in a smaller bottle, .30 fl. oz., vs. .043 fl. oz. for the Wild Shines. If I had to choose one line over the other, based on the shades I tried, I'd likely pick the Wild Shines. They're less expensive, especially considering the size, but more importantly, the formula seems to flow a bit better and the brushes and handles are just more comfortable to use. The brushes in the Megalast line were hit or miss. They are not all cut identically, which made the application a little tricky, and a smaller bottle means a shorter brush and handle. Don't let the mention of that discourage you, because they're not that bad, but I did want to point it out. The shades are nice, including some unique ones, and the finishes are varied, giving you a wide selection to choose from.

New Wet n Wild-Wild Shine Shades!

Above & Below: Night Prowl is unbelievable, and these photos don't tell the whole story. This applied as a thin, watery charcoal shade with sparse red-toned purple glitter. Not easily discouraged, I applied a second coat and the magic took over. It transformed into a deep charcoal creme base with sparkly purple glitter.
Below: Some things are better left alone. A matte top coat diminishes too much on this shade.
Below: Blue Moon, a shade that appeals to me on so many levels. The name, the shade, the whole blackened teal-peacock blue mixed with a bit of the 'Scrangie Effect', for lack of a better way to describe that star burst of a lighter shade in the center that is so prevalent in her namesake Rescue Beauty Lounge shade. I could go on, but you get the general idea. No more words, just look at the pretty pictures!
Below: Rain Check reminds me of Essie's Blueberry Buckle crossed with Revlon's Not So Blue-Berry, but it is it's own color. By no means is this a duo chrome, but it does look more gray in some lighting, more blue at other times, and with a touch of lavender appearing every now and again.
Below: Eggplant Frost, although not a new shade like the others above, is still part of this new display. This too is a stunning shade, an iridescent purple shimmer with blue flash. Again, you can see a little bit of the Scrangie Effect in this shade as well.
Here are some of the new shades from Wet n Wild I picked up earlier this week from their new, five shelf, full end-cap display, and I've got to tell you, for 97¢ a bottle, the price was worth every penny and then some! I can't recall a time that 97¢ has brought me this much happiness. One of these shades, Eggplant Frost, is not new, but it's new to me. You can read more about the new display in my post here. Every one of these shades is perfect. They applied in 2 coats, with no problems and no drying time issues. I like each one for different reasons, and 'like' should probably be replaced with 'love', because they're unique shades, unique finishes, and the formula is very good. Oh, and they're only 97¢. I know I mentioned that several times, but it's hard to believe, considering how nice these are. All of those elements combined, are the reason I'm changing 'like' to 'love'. Love very much. If I had more than two thumbs, I'd give them multiple thumbs up!

Massive New Wet n Wild Display!

Above & Below: Blackmail is the one I zeroed in on immediately. It appears to be a charcoal shimmer with multi-color glitter.

I went to Meijer this morning to get groceries and I was somehow transported to the cosmetics department. I don't remember walking over there, but these things happen! Up and down the aisles I walk, disappointed that I saw nothing new or even remotely exciting for that matter. Then I walked around the last corner and I saw the biggest new Wet n Wild display in history. It was the entire end cap with all 5 shelves filled with new goodies. The next thing I knew, products started falling into my cart at an uncontrollable rate. I'll tell you what, it was the strangest thing...but this happens to me all the time, so I just accept it. Naturally, my phone battery was dead so I couldn't get pictures, but here's what I saw and what the cardboard display hanging beneath each shelf basically said:

Top Shelf-'Variety of Vibrant Color & Effect' and these are the small round polishes in the photo above. They are priced at $1.89 each and are .30 fl. oz. There are 24 shades, 9 of which have 'NEW' on the label. I picked 7 of them and in my opinion, the ones I picked up were the nicest shades. There are lots of cremes, 2-3 white and off white cremes, a black creme, some shimmers that didn't look terribly exciting, other than the 2 I picked up. Blackmail is an amazing shade and I can't wait to try it out.

Second Shelf-this shelf was filled with eye shadows, trios, singles and the 6-color ones shown above. I didn't count them, but there were quite a few other selections in a variety of colors that I didn't pick up. The trio's are priced at $2.84, while the 6-color palettes are $4.69. I'm hoping these are as nice as their offerings of shadows over the past couple of years.

Third Shelf-I honestly didn't pay too much attention to this one, other than to note that it was all lip gloss and lip stick, and I believe the lip stick was advertised as matte.

Fourth Shelf~again, this was not the shelf I spent the most time looking at! It was all blush singles and mineral foundation, if I recall. The blush singles came in about 8-10 shades and they were quite large.

Fifth/Bottom Shelf-More nail polish, and these are the taller Wild Shine ones pictured above. The display read 'Long Lasting 5 Day Chip Resistant Polish' and there were 18 shade slots. I did notice there were 2 slots for a black creme and a red creme, so I believe there are 16 shades total. These were priced at 93 cents each and about one third of them have "New Shade" on the label.

I hope that helps you in your shopping endeavors! You'll notice that I bought 2 shades of some of the colors, so there's a hint as to this Friday's Follower Freebie!
