More Color Club Japanese Glitters Coming To VNS!

Above & Below: Bottle pictures of the 8 new Japanese Glitters from Color Club, coming soon to Victoria Nail Supply.
Below: This is Gus, who's been keeping us very busy the last few weeks making arrangements to get him from a shelter in Georgia to us in Michigan. This photo was taken last Wednesday after he'd been pulled from the shelter and moved to private boarding to await transportation. He actually looks like he's smiling because he's happy to finally have a home of his own.
Below: These photos were taken when he was at the shelter in Georgia.

Yen from Victoria Nail Supply sent me an eMail today letting me know that they'll soon have 8 more of the Color Club Japanese Glitters available in a variety of colors. She sent along some photos and I should have a color wheel with the swatches later in the week from her. I won't know until I receive that, which colors are which, although I'm sure we can narrow down a few just based on the names she provided. Here are the names, in no particular order:
Blue Hawaii, Fresh Mint, Dazzling Orange, Twinkle Peach, Sparkling Cassis, Bishop's Weed, Calendula for Joy, and Rose, I Love You. Yen said her favorite is Fresh Mint, and I'd have to agree with her on that! Bishop's Weed...now that's an interesting name! Bishop's Weed is actually a plant used for ground cover. I can't wait to see these in real life, because I was very happy with the Japanese Glitters I got a few months back. No word on when these will be in stock, but I would guess yet this month.
I haven't forgotten about posting the remaining BB Couture men's polishes from Overall Beauty (scroll down to yesterday's post if you missed Vise), but today is the day we've been planning for several weeks, and I've got my hands full now that's it's finally arrived! I'll get back to the BB Coutures later today or tomorrow, but in keeping with "Man Week", what I'm jokingly referring to as this week's theme on my blog because of the men's polishes, I'd like to introduce you to Gus, the newest addition to our family. He arrived at 7:30 this morning after a 12 hour drive from Georgia. I'm a little nervous today, trying to keep the peace between him and my other pets, including a female German Shepherd, a male Shih Tsu, and 2 Persian cats. So far, so good, but the first couple of days always keep me on guard. Gus came to us from a high kill shelter in Decatur, Georgia. He is heartworm positive, so he'll begin treatment for that in the near future. We think he's about one to two years old, and he is very shy and sweet. This is our fourth rescue, and likely not the last. It's been a hectic 2 weeks making arrangements to get him out of the shelter and transported up here to Michigan, but with the help of a wonderful rescue group in Georgia and a very dear friend from my German Shepherd circle of friends, we're very happy to welcome Gus to his new home.

China Glaze Glitter: Bad Kitty

Above: Bad Kitty in direct sunlight. It starts out as a pale watermelon shade, but deepens and becomes more vivid after each coat.

Above & Below: These photos were taken outdoors in various degrees of shade, no flash. As you can see, the amount of glitter in these polishes is massive!

Below: Indoors, with flash.

Below: This is one of my 'Bad Kitties'. All he needs is a beer and a cigar in his hand!

Today I have another shade from the Glitters, Shimmers & Cremes collection that China Glaze is releasing over the next couple of months. Bad Kitty is one of 6 shades in this collection available at Victoria Nail Supply now, and some of the other shades are available at Sally Beauty. Bad Kitty is a lighter watermelon shade with a very jelly type base, and packed full of small multi-colored glitter. I would love to have this polish in just the base color without the glitter because of it's extreme jellyness. This is shown in 3 coats and after the first coat, the color begins to build very well. I imagine that's because there's so much glitter for the polish to adhere to!

The winner in the Organic Apoteke drawing is Diana from the beautifully photographed and well-written blog, Painted Lady Fingers. Congratulations Diana on winning the travel sized bottle of Rasayana Rejuvenating Serum!

Barielle/ALU Out-Grey-Geous

Above & Below: Outdoors, no flash under partly cloudy skies. The sun kept popping in and out, so there are various degrees of lighting.
Note: Click on some of these photos to enlarge them and you'll see what I mean about the shimmer showing up as either gold or multi-colored.

Below: Indoors, with flash.

Below: I used one coat of Essie's Matte About You for a smooth, flawless matte finish.

Below: This polish seems to have many personalities...the finish sometimes shows multi-colored shimmer or gold shimmer. When matte topped with Essie's Matte About You, the gold shimmer in still visible (last picture of these 3 close-ups).

Below: My loyal and trusty photo assistant, Out-Grey-Greta!
This shade from the Barielle/All Lacquered Up Collection is described on the Barielle website as "Silver Shimmer", but there's more to this beauty than that! O-G-G is indeed a silver, but it's more of a medium gunmetal grey to me. And yes, it is a shimmer, but the shimmer is quite captivating in that it is both multi-colored and gold. Not at the same time, however. I don't know why, but if you look at the photos (which are the same in reality) you can see what I mean. Isn't that interesting? I have been so caught up in this fabulous collection that my penchant for top coating everything with a matte top coat before removing it has been all but forgotten. I remembered to do it with this one though, and it turned out very nice. You can still see some of the shimmer underneath it, which is always a plus. All of these polishes (this is #9!) have applied nicely in 2 coats. I'll finish up this collection tomorrow with the last three. Barielle is coming out with a top coat of their own very soon called Matte-inee, and you can check it out on their blog.

QRS Autumn Bronze and Yesterday's Prize Winner!

Above & Below: QRS Autumn Bronze...I'm oddly captivated by this shade. Outdoors, no flash.

Below: Indoors, with flash.
Below: My Greta girl, who thinks her owner takes too many pictures of her nails, but always likes to accompany me for the outdoor shots.
Congratulations, Natalie! She won the 5 piece Orly Treatment set in the daily giveaway I posted about yesterday. If you haven't seen her blog, Nani's Nails, check it out here. Out of all the giveaways during this month of Natural & Organic Beauty thus far, I think this one generated the most entries. So take note of that Orly, and keep up the great work! They make an excellent polish and an extensive line of top coats, base coats and treatments. I assigned each entry a number as I received it and used random.org to generate the winning number, which in this case was 15.

I have one more QRS polish to share with you this evening (scroll down if you missed the earlier posts today on QRS) and 6 more left to swatch from my order last month. If you like these polish colors, don't forget to use the $3.00 Body & Soul discount coupon (see details in the right hand column above) should you decide to place an order. This shade is called Autumn Bronze, and in the bottle it looks like a tarnished brass color. To be honest, I thought it was going to be one of my least favorites. It's not gold and it's not olive, although I did see touches of both when I held the bottle up for inspection. It is a shimmer and if you click the pictures you can see more detail of the shimmer hues. Now, some people may not like this shade because it is different and a little hard to describe, but I owe Autumn Bronze a big apology. It's different alright, but different isn't a bad thing! It appears more gold in some lighting, more olive in other lighting. The first coat was streaky, the second made everything fine. I don't know what it is specifically that I love about this one, but if Autumn Bronze will accept my apology, I think we'll have a long and happy friendship.

For those of you in Canada, Q-Nail/QRS will be offering shipping to you in the near future. They had a glitch in their system a while back that allowed you to order, even though they aren't quite set up for that yet. They honored the orders at that time, but will soon be ready to accommodate you on a regular basis.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Purple Haze, What's Blooming, & Doggies!

I'm trying to stay out of Mike's way today because he's installing a new front door and storm door. He does wonderful work, but he swears and slams things around--plaster and wood are flying! He works his way, I work my way, and we work better alone! He's a big Indy Racing League fan, so he's trying to watch the race at the same time. I'm just laying low doing some yard work and enjoying the beautiful sunshine.

Above & Below: Purple Haze is a darker lavender shade with a dusty or muted tone. I used coats and had perfect application and coverage (disregard my cuticles, I need to "do" my hands!). Both photos were taken outside, the top one in the shade, the bottom one in full sun.
Below: Gus and Greta are watching Mike from a safe distance and do not like it at all when he turns the Sawzall on.

Below: The Morning Glory is in full bloom now and I love how the center seems to glow.

Below: I must find a nail polish to match this! It's such a unique shade of burnt, dusty orange. This is a Darla Orange variety of a Diascia, which is an annual and a member of the Snapdragon family.
Below: It looks like our mini orchard will give us some fruit this year, and I can't wait to make peach pies with these.
Below: Lots of peaches! I love to melt real butter, add brown sugar, heat it until it's caramelized, then add fresh, sliced peaches and boil them for 5 minutes. Pour them over ice cream and you've got heaven on earth.
Below: The apple trees have quite a bit of fruit on them.
I hope you're all enjoying the weekend! It's finally been nice and sunny with temperatures in the upper 80's for the last couple of days, so I'm very happy! I don't know what it is about Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes, but they're worth the price to me. The application is always perfect in 2 coats (sometimes even one), and it flows as if it knows exactly where to go on the nail. They wear exceptionally well and although there are dupes to a small percentage of their shades, the majority of them are unique. I think the next sale is in November, so I'll be adding a few more to my collection then.

Sally Hansen Ultra HD: Byte (and some other random things!)

It took me the better part of a week to swatch all of the Sally Hansen Ultra HD's, but here is the last one, Byte. This is another beautiful shade, as they all have been for the most part. You can scroll down below this post to view the other seven shades.

Above & Below: In full sun, the glitter which looks pink and silver in the bottle, actually shows as a mix of blues and purples. I used 3 coats on this one.
Below: Byte is a lighter Magenta or Fuchsia color with plenty of glitter. In the shade, the glitter blends together a little more, creating a sheen of pale violet with a blue iridescent finish.

Below: One of my photo assistants, who wishes I'd quit taking pictures of my nails and throw her toy for her instead. As some of you may know from previous photos, this is Greta. We rescued her from a high kill shelter in Mt. Vernon, IL almost 3 years ago. She ended up there after some idiot bred her at a year old, then dumped her on the side of the road. She's very smart and one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. If only she'd stop laying right there all the time and killing my grass! That's alright, we still love her!
Below: My other assistant this afternoon was Gizmo. I can't say that he's very sweet, because he's really not. He was rescued from our local Humane Society 2 years ago, because with two Shepherds, I just wanted a little lap dog, much to my husband's dismay! He's a good lap dog, but he's a little moody. When people meet our dogs for the first time, they're always afraid of the Shepherds if they aren't familiar with how gentle that breed really is--but this is the one you need to be afraid of! Mike thinks he's ugly, but I love him to pieces.
Below: Back to the nail topic! This is the cover on the latest issue of Nail Pro magazine. I don't know about you, but I'd be nibbling on my nails at some point! There's instructions on how to do the look, including the step where they cure them under a UV light to "ensure the candies wouldn't slide off." Interesting, huh?
This post got a little more involved than I intended, but I had lots of useless information to cover in addition to the Byte swatches! Friday Follower Freebie returns tomorrow--I took a little break from that for a while and have since stockpiled the FFF prize bin and am ready to get back at it! Lastly, just a reminder that the Body & Soul May Monthly Contest ends at midnight May 31. Two winners will each receive a complete set of China Glaze Vintage Vixen as soon as it comes out in early July. Entry details can be found here.
