Can Yü Pony Up For This Perfume?

Sure, spraying too much perfume is wasteful, sometimes even headache-inducing. But if you're wearing Yü, Bergdorf's new $5,000 perfume? Over-spraying is just financially irresponsible. (Remember our post on products made with gems? Well, this better contain the Hope Diamond itself.) A creation from Mane perfumer Cecile Krakower, Yü is a blend of notes like freesia, mandarin leaf, bergamot, tangerine, vanilla and sandalwood, WWD says. It's name is Chinese for "rain"—which seems dull to me, but if you have 5G to spend on perfume, I guess you don't mind—and only 500 limited edition bottles are being produced. Funny enough, though, Yü isn't the most expensive perfume in the world; that (ridiculous) honor goes to a $215,000 diamond-topped flask called Imperial Majesty. All I have to say: These perfumes better come with studio lofts and a gourmet chef.
