I take secret comfort in the fact that while, sure, models are impossibly beautiful, they still get nervous and jittery like the rest of us. Guess not: Luca, an IMG model who’s struttin' the
FashionWeekLive runway in Houston this week, says she’s “not nervous at all” for the show. As she gushed on the phone from Berlin today, she sounded giddily excited: “I’m flying out to New York tomorrow for my fitting,” she said. “Then New York to Houston on Wednesday, then the show on Thursday.” At 23, Luca has a
lot of impressive experience in modeling; which she's been doing since age 16, no less, when an agent discovered her shopping in her hometown of Hamburg. She's done
numerous shows in Paris, Milan and New York, but expects FashionWeekLive to be something newly exciting. “Things are always different backstage, depending on the show,” she said. “Because this show is going to be huge, and not in the middle of a stressful fashion week, it's going to be really fun.” Luca admits she doesn't really wear makeup—minus some French pharmaceuticals I can't
la pronounce—but always shows up “freshly showered with wet hair and clean,
moisturized skin.” She does, however, rave about the simple,
natural look the makeup teams whip up backstage. “I particularly love what they do with lipstick, because I'm not good at doing that myself,” she said. “My favorite look is one with really simple lipstick.”
