Looks like New York is on the healthy bandwagon. (Re: our earlier post about anorexia-related deaths in the fashion world.) Just yesterday, the Council of Fashion Designers of America met in Manhattan to discuss the issue before fashion week kicks off Feb. 2; the recommendations will be sent to designers next week. According to The New York Times, the possible guidelines are: offering daytime fittings for younger models, instead of the usual moonlight regimen, so they can actually sleep; asking designers to “out” models with eating disorders; and providing healthier food backstage, sans the usual “diet of Champagne and cigarettes.” (Stomach turning here.) Oddly though, there are no plans to monitor BMI’s as Madrid is doing. Thoughts?
