The Pantone of Pretty

Even though it's finally beginning to feel like fall, New York is abuzz with spring. Fashion Week is in full swing and the tents in Manhattan's Bryant Park are teeming with Spring 2007 fashion. Today, I met with the color experts at Pantone to hear about next year's hottest hues. Color expert Leatrice Eiseman explained that Pantone interviews all the designers before the shows and picks the top 10 color trends. And this spring, it's all about fresh, pastel shades of pink peony, tarragon green, gray, apricot, strawberry and sky blue. "Designers are viewing green as a neutral, just like in nature," says Eiseman. "There are so many different colors you can wear with it." And in a nod to this fall's somber mood, gray is here to stay. "People move towards neutral colors when they need to be practical, since they're more dependable," Eiseman suggested.
