Waiting for Mr. Darcy

I knew
it would
happen.

It had to.

When you
fall in love
for the first
time....
and you
 are both fifteen.....

Well,
it's only
a matter
of time
until a heart
gets broken.

We've had
such a summer
here at
Privet and Holly.

It began with
this message,
from her boyfriend,
in her yearbook:

Have a great
summer.

She thought
he was going
to be part of her
summer....

Kind of.
Sort of.
She hoped.

Although,
looking back
she realized
the writing
was on the
wall months
earlier and
she'd chosen
to ignore it.

A lot of
our very
best conversations
happen in
the car.

We've spoken
at length about
what she learned
from this
relationship....
What traits
she wants,
someday
in "the one" ~
characteristics that
are important
to her and worth
holding out for.

One day, after
ruminating
on love
and marriage
{me behind the
wheel, she
in the passenger seat}
there was
silence.

And then she
softly declared,
"I want a Mr. Darcy!"

She'd read
Pride and Prejudice
in school and we'd
recently rented the
BBC movie version
of the book.  She
admired Mr. Darcy's
honor, his ability
to communicate
with the written
word, his honesty
and willingness to
declare his love.

Yes,
he's handsome
too!

{I have to admit,
I'm a bit smitten
with him, myself!}

When I was in
seventh grade,
I fell in love
with my first
book to
silver-screen hero.

Deeply, madly
heart pounding
and pulse racinging-ly
enamored.....

....with Rhett Butler
of Gone with the Wind!

Now, if I'd been
acquainted with
Mr. Darcy,
it might not have
been Rhett....

But at that
time, it most
certainly WAS!

Have you ever
fallen in love
with a literary
character or
one from a
movie?  An
actor or singer?

Please,
do tell!

It will be
just
between
us : )

xx Suzanne

A million thank yous
from the bottom of
my heart to all of
you who left such
inspiring and uplifting
messages about my dear
friend, Kathleen.

Her journey
begins today and
your words were
the most special
bon voyage.
