R.I.P., Dear Sunday Morning Sleep-ins

Setting an alarm during the weekend? Good one. But, according to a new study, getting too much shut-eye can be just as damaging to your health as too little. Anything more than 9 hours a night ages you by several years, it says. "Everyone varies, but the optimal amount is 6-7 hours for women, and 7-8 for men," sleep expert Michael Roizen told ALLURE. "And these shouldn't be catnaps squeezed in during the day. You need at least 2.5 hours in a row before your sleep becomes restorative." The only catch to this slumber-patrolling study? Scientists have yet to figure out why sleep overdose stresses the body. So, until then, I say ... Zzzzz.
