Happy Monday! Welcome to my weekly newsletter, where I spend a little time discussing any updates and news in the blogging, polish/cosmetics world, and any other thoughts or ideas, related or otherwise. The photo collage above is a new attraction we have in our area, and because my daughter is out of school for 2 weeks, we spent some time there last week and thoroughly enjoyed the sights and sounds of the Silver Beach Carousel and Museum. My husband was one of the sub-contractors on the job, so it was nice to see it in its finished state. The carousel and museum were constructed over this past year and contains a wide array of artifacts and history from the once world-famous Silver Beach Amusement Park that began here in the early 1900's and closed down in the 1970's. The intricate details on the horses and other animals that make up the new carousel, which is a replica of the original one, are truly amazing. Now to the more "on-topic" items!Below: I spotted this little article in a magazine recently and was happy to see one of the drug store brands getting some recognition. Rimmel's Steel Grey is is one of my favorite taupe shades, and while I think they're a little behind by saying "This taupe-brown lacquer is summer's hottest hue", I do agree that it's certainly been a popular color over the last year, and will probably continue to be one of the dominating shades for some time to come.
Below: We're doing some painting in our house this summer, and in looking at some of these paint swatches and samples we've collected, I thought I'd find another use for them as well. I've been using them as inspiration for Konad designs, some of which I'll be sharing with you soon. I normally go with just a 2 color process--a base color, followed by a stamping image color--but these have given me some ideas for 3-color designs, as well as giving me some direction in pairing shade combinations I wouldn't have normally done. If you're bored and feeling uninspired when it comes to Konad designs, head to your local paint store and pick up a few sample chips. You might be surprised by some of your designs!

I tried my first Charlotte Russe polish last week and while the shade itself was nothing spectacular, I was impressed with the formula. My sister sent me the one I have because we are no where near any of their stores. I didn't realize that some of their polishes are available on their web site, so I signed up to be an eMail subscriber and received 10% off, and some of their polishes are on sale 2/$6.00.
