Above L-R: Vermillionaire, Pretty Edgy (the Dominican green dupe), Miss Matched, Knockout Pout, Haute As Hello, Demure Vixen.
The swatches are somewhat brighter and less muted than the promo photos I've seen, and I personally think they're prettier this way. What do you think? Do you see any you love? I'm almost certain the frontrunner of this collection will be Pretty Edgy, because greens get a lot of love from us and dupes for long discontinued popular shades always seem to do well. I imagine the L'Oreal effect is already starting, because I haven't been able to get samples of these yet. I don't mind that aspect of the buyout, but I will be bothered if L'Oreal starts making changes to the formula and the creativity that have made Essie one of my favorite brands. Here's something interesting I came across a few weeks ago that I wasn't aware of: Essie Weingarten started in the business with Forsythe Cosmetics (the makers of Color Club), leaving them in 1981 to start what we now know as Essie. The source for this information was an interesting read, and you can find the article here. I would love to have some of those original unbranded bottles of polish they mention in my own collection--and $1.00 a piece!
