Benched: Virtual Coffee

Hi-ya, friends!
It's been such a busy few
weeks that I thought it
might be a nice time for
another virtual coffee*
together to get caught up.

The last time you
stopped by for coffee
{or tea, if that is your
comforting beverage of
choice....} we cozied
up on my squishy couch
for a good heart-to-heart.

But today, it feels like
springtime outside,
so.....

I'm benching you.

Yep.  We are going
to sit outside on the wood
bench on our deck,
under the big old,
bare-branched ancient
oak tree, and natter
on, as some of my
British blogging friends
would say!

After you choose your
drink and add your
cream and sugar, I'll
lead you outside with
a bowl of beautiful organic
strawberries
that I'm loving these days
from Costco.  I exercised
this morning and am
feeling a bit virtuous,
so we're going to skip
the scones.  {Sorry!}

There is a breeze, so
I'll grab you a cardigan
and a fleece blanket
and we can settle in
for a chat.

As you admire the
open water on the marsh
behind our house {that just
last week was still iced
over and looking like winter!}
we'll trade stories of our
spring break adventures.

One of the highlights of
my break was spending the day
with my special pal from New
Zealand, whose husband
just happened to be attending
a conference three hours
from where we were vacationing.
Already a perennial in my
garden, this visit reinforced
why I love this friend.....and
proved that time and distance
won't weed out a true amiga!

As I nibble on these red-to-the
center strawberries, I'll  nod
appreciatively as you tell me
about your own travels....and
your own perennials.....and we'll
both agree that while it was fun
to be away,  there is no place
like home : )

You'll ask about Privet and Holly
and your genuine interest will
light my enthusiasm as I tell you
about all of the wonderful friends
that I have made in this fantastic
new world.....

Like last Thursday, when
I met sweet Linda for flea market
shopping and lunch and how we
chatted so easily, as if we'd known
each other for years!  That's the
magic of blogging, because of course,
we did know each other, even
before we met in person.

Linda and moi, mugging it up for our cameras!
Or yesterday, when I celebrated my
 friendship with two other lovable
local bloggers.  I've only known Becky
for real since July and Jill since
August, but because we'd read each
other's blogs, we felt a unique kinship
right from the start.  Sadly for me
and Becky, Jill is moving to Oregon
this week, but we have all vowed
to keep in touch and I truly believe
that we will!

Dear bloggy friends Becky and Jill
Our conversation meanders into
What did you do over the weekend?
I'll share a little bit about the
Mad Men-themed dinner party
that we hosted on Saturday night.
Only a teaser because you read
my blog and because I want to
write a whole post about this blast
to the past of an evening!  I'd show you
one picture and tell you how everyone
came dressed for dinner apropos
of the 1960's.......And that a good
time was most definitely had by all!

Mad Women!
That's me with the apron on.
{The cigs were just for affect : ) }
As the sun begins to move across
the sky we both agree that it's time
to get going and tackle our to-do
lists.  I fold up the fleece blankets
and you gather up the tray with the
empty strawberry bowl and coffee
mugs as we head inside.

Hugging goodbye, we vow to do
this more often.  We always seem
to run out of time, but not out
of words......

I loved having virtual coffee with
you.  Next time, I promise to bake
something decadent.  And just
think, by then the trees will be
turning green and we should have
bulbs blooming.  Ah, spring!

Have a happy week.
On Friday, I will be joining Sarah's
Define Your Blog linky party.
If you want to join the party,
you can find out more, here.
Until then.....

Thanks for dropping by!

xx
Suzanne
