Losing sleep over that wrinkle? Fretting over those teeeeeny-tiny creases in your lips? Yeah, me either. Then again, we aren’t red-carpet-strutting celebs. But with the Oscars just days away, celebrities have begun that tres desperate attempt at looking flawless come award night—as have any lovers, agents or family members who get to tag along to the show. These last-minute fixes, says The New York Times, usually slip under the radar though. (Read: We sit at home moping, How does she look so good?!, and can’t figure it out.) They're scalpel-free procedures, usually just days before an award show, that create more temporary and less detectable results than full-fledged surgeries. Filler lip injections, de-wrinkling neck lifts, lasers for brown spots, injections to the hands and armpits—where does it all end!? But as one doctor put it, it’s just a sign of the times, so maybe we shouldn’t be so critical. “[Celebrities] are coming in for smaller procedures because they know every inch of skin they show on the red carpet, from head to toe, is going to be picked over,” he said. Okay, fair enough. Still can’t promise I won’t scrutinize every last one of 'em come Sunday, but I do promise to stop fussing about the “woes” of my measly eyeliner.
