Above & Below: This particular one is carved from sandstone and I want one of these badly! It has so many intricate symbols and details, I could look at it forever and continue to find something different.
Below: Another sandstone design.
Below: As soon as I saw the 2 sandstone sculptures, I was reminded of the bottle design for Thierry Mugler's Womanity fragrance. Kind of random I know, but I saw a correlation between the designs of the sculptures and the bottle.
Below: This is a design he carved from limestone.
Aren't those gorgeous? Dave is a very talented and humble guy, and we totally enjoyed seeing what he does in his life outside of school. How about some nail polish news? Yen from VNS and I were eMailing the other night, and were discussing the gorgeous golden olive shade in China Glaze's upcoming holiday collection. She had heard it may look like Moonpool...calm down, after doing a side by side it really doesn't. She sent this image over so you can see the differences, but even though it's not a Moonpool dupe, it's still something to be excited about. This new polish is called Peace on Earth, and it's the one on the left.
My Melmer reorganization continues and I wonder if I'll ever be finished. I've got 6 of them now, and I'm off to Michael's this morning to pick up 3 more. That should finish things up, leaving me with hopefully a couple of empty drawers for future expansion. I've learned some interesting things going through all of my polish while moving it all--most importantly, I have too much polish! Another thing I noticed, which may not be news to you, is that the Claw polishes in the coffin shaped bottles are made by the same company that owns China Glaze, American International Industries. Melmer's are on sale again this week at Michael's for 40% off, so check it out if you need some more. There's an interesting site/discussion thread I found on the Jetmax "Melmer" that made me feel a little better about ending up with only 9 of them! This is a crafter's forum, but some of these ladies have more than 40 of them. I enjoyed looking at some of their set-ups though, and it seems they're as passionate about crafting as we are about nail polish. Take a look at their Melmer use here. Have a great week!
