Laura Mercier knows her bronze. The beauty guru, whose line is sold in 628 stores in 25 countries, also helps big-time celebs pick the perfect bronze shade for their skin tone, says
The Wall Street Journal. The biggest bronzing blunder, Mercier says? Picking a shade that's too orange, red or shimmery. To avoid a splotchy fate, the best bet is to walk outside and test the shade in the
daylight. "Often, with bronzers that are too orangey, you don't really notice it in the store because of all the artificial lights," Mercier said. (I can attest. I once bought a bronzer that cried streaky, glittery cheetah in the sun.) A tinted moisturizer, sheer gel bronzer or a bronzing powder are other good ways to go too, Mercier says, for just a "hint" of color on your face. Or, for the
patient bronzing beauty, try combining all three: Dab on a light layer of tinted moisturizer, a dime-sized dollop of bronzing gel to cheeks, and then dust bronzing powder to the face and neck.
Voila. Golden perfection.
