ORLY Foil FX Swatches

Above & Below: Luxe is the gold shade in this 3 piece collection and although they're all operating on shine overload, this one seems to be the brightest one. To add to the beauty of these, I only had to use one coat on this shade (I used 2 on the others).
Below: This was taken with a flash, while the two above were with no flash under an Ott lamp.
Below: Rage is a rose shade, resembling rose gold. It looked to have a bit of copper in it, but once I applied, it's a very delicate shade of rose with a touch of bronze.
Below: If you read below, you'll learn that the shimmer you're seeing in these macro photos is not very evident in a normal viewing range. All you notice is the color and the bright shiny finish.
Below: I wondered how well these would matte with a matte top coat, and as you can see, not even that can dull the shine of these. This photo shows 2 coats of Essie's Matte About You with very little effect.
Below: Shine, the silver shade in the collection, is a bright silver. These photos were taken with a flash.

Yesterday I posted the bottle pictures and the press release information on ORLY'S upcoming Foil FX Collection. I just finished up the swatches and I'm blinded by the shine, so hopefully I'll be able to type this without a problem! Seriously, these are nothing short of amazing, in my opinion. Let's talk about the application first--I had no problems whatsoever--typical ORLY formula, flows where it needs to go, not too thick or too thin, and they all dried quickly. I used 2 coats on all but the gold shade (Luxe), and that covered perfectly in just one coat. I know when we think of metallics, the fear that crosses our mind in most cases, is visible brush strokes. Not the case with these. They do have something in them, I'm not sure if you'd call it shimmer, but I'll call it magic dust. These do not have a shiny foil finish, but rather a texturized foil effect, according to the press release. But don't for a minute think that they're not shiny. These polishes are the shiniest I've ever seen. The gold is the shiniest, followed by the silver, and then the rose. Keep in mind when looking at these photos, that these are on a macro setting and then enlarged. The shimmer is not that noticeable from a normal viewing distance. What is noticeable--and I mean heart-stopping, head-turning noticeable--is the shine. I'd be willing to bet that on a sunny day (something we don't have lately), when the sunlight bounces off your nails, it will temporarily blind you. Don't say I didn't warn you!
