Cosmetics are like boys. Love ‘em, need ‘em, can’t live without ‘em—but sometimes they make things
impossible. Your mascara has claimed another pillow, your coffee mug is wearing your lip color, and your eyeliner has gone raccoon—
again. (Collective sigh.) So, ok, this permanent makeup thing makes sense. Frustrated, time-starved women are opting out of the beauty battle—as
SHAPE reported—and are
tattooing their makeup on instead. But as convenient as it sounds (cue: permanently shaded brows, eyeliner, lips), it comes with not-so-fun side effects that go unmentioned. Color can leak into nearby skin—enough said—and the $400-800 price tag can burn a pretty nasty hole into that adorable clutch. One more kick while we’re down: Results can fade within six months, so it’s
teeechnically not all that permanent. So the best, risk-free advice: Keep that tattoo machine away from your beautiful mug! That way, when that cat-eye look goes out of style? You won't have it tattooed (or, well, permanently smudged) onto your pretty, little eyelids.
