Welcome to week two of Ten for Tuesday.
For those of you just tuning in, I am
taking an eight-week digital photography
class every Tuesday with a local blogging friend.
Ten for Tuesday refers to the ten photos
{Hello, local blogging friend!} |
that we must bring in to share the following
Tuesday with our class, on the big screen!
These photos should reflect the homework
which was assigned to us the previous week.
I'd like to answer the biggest question that
I received from some of you after my first
Ten for Tuesday, Blurring the Lines:
Do you mind saying what camera you bought?
I have found that most bloggers
belong to either the Nikon or Canon
camps and I envy them their
unflagging loyalty! Originally, I'd
planned to go with one of these brands,
but then my sweet hubby surprised
me with a Sony a230L for my
birthday {later stolen}, and I
became very comfortable with
the Alpha "a" Series.....
{At least, the automatic settings
on the a Series!}
I also knew that Sony makes the image sensor

I also knew that Sony makes the image sensor
for many of the Nikon DSLR cameras
and is known for images with incredible color.

Something new that Sony included with the a390
is a very inspiring DVD called Kids in Focus,
by award-winning celebrity photographer
Me Ra Koh. {You may have seen her on Oprah
or the Nate Berkus show, where she is a regular.}

This DVD really opened my mind to
the unlimited possibilities that my new
Sony held in terms of great shots as well as the
extreme ease it offered to newer dslr photographers
like myself. It literally walks you through things
like aperture priority with little pictures and
symbols that are intuitive and for me, make sense!
This week's assignment was
two-fold:
Take photos of things you
love to photograph and
also, play with shutter speed.
It is the amount of time
that the shutter {the eye of
the camera} is open, allowing
the image sensor to see what
you are attempting to capture.
fractions of a second. The
larger the denominator, the
faster the shutter speed. For example,
1/1000 is much faster than
1/30.
freeze a moment; a slower
shutter speed will draw out
the moment and can also
be used to create blur for a
sense of movement.
4. {Slower shutter speed to capture twirling} |
5. Gracie, ready to pounce. |
6. {Faster shutter speed to freeze the leap} |
7. My daughter preparing for a party. |
8. Here she is again, playing her harp for an appreciative audience! |
10. The sun setting on this post : ) Good luck as you all play have fun become better acquainted and learn to love your cameras! xx Suzanne |
Thank you for the heart felt comments
on my last post, Sailing Away.
I was overwhelmed by your compassion,
warmth and caring thoughts.
Kinder readers never existed.
