noun: a striking occurrence of
two or more events
at one time apparently
by mere chance
{accident, chance, luck, fluke,
twist of fate, quirk, happenstance}
Do you ever think about it?
Coincidence?
When the stars seem to align
in just the right formation...
A stroke of luck.
or is it more?
Spring break 2010
Palm Springs Airport
Had literally closed the book
The Long Road Called Goodbye,
{trying to understand my
grandma’s dementia}.
Flight delayed six hours
mechanical difficulties
No seats left on any other flights
the whole weekend!
No hotels available
in a 50-mile radius.
In line behind
a woman traveling
with her mother….
The mother
a lovely senior
platinum blonde bob
tall and thin
dressed elegantly
black turtleneck and slacks
sitting in the chairs
reading a book.
The daughter, crazy
with worry
had to get Mom where
she was going.
Tears in her eyes
"She’s got alzheimers
and she’s frightened,
doesn’t understand
the waiting."
Doubt in the gate
attendant’s eyes,
no empathy
just a shoulder shrug.
There’s nothing
we can do.
Having just
read the book
I knew.
I knew what she
was experiencing
with her mom….
Alzheimer’s doesn't always
show, on the outside.
I stepped up
to the counter
softly patted
her shoulders
simply said,
"It’s going to be
okay."
I felt her weary shoulders
sag,
relief ~
someone was on
her team.
And you know
what?
It was okay.
15 minutes later,
our {now repaired}
commuter plane
pulled into
the gate, ready to fly!
I will never forget
the warm hug that
I received from that
lovely lady as we
lined up to board
our flight.
Coincidence that we
were on that flight together?
I
don’t
think
so.
Call it
meant to be
or
on the same
wavelength…..
I’ve had many coincidences ~
karmic-like incidences
since entering
the blogosphere
too….
Last week I wandered
over to Urban Farmgirl’s blog
last day of her giveaway
I was comment #404.
Mary has a booth at the
Kane County Flea Market
which I thought was cool
since I’d just written a post
last month that included
a descripton of a disastrous
purchase I’d made at the
same flea market years ago….
{You can read about it here.}
And guess what? I won!
A $50 Pottery Barn gift card!
Divine retribution? Dumb luck?
Coincidence???
In May I was drawn to read
a story that moved me very much.
It was about Laura, from the blog
Décor to Adore. {If you haven’t read
it yet, you will be inspired, here.}
Laura went
back to college, married with
two kids, for a degree
in Interior Design.
{My mom also re-entered college
when my brother and I were
in grade and middle schools.
Same degree!}
Coincidence?
Maybe.
But now it gives me
a chance to tell you
about her audition for
the Oprah Show!
And be sure to vote for
this uber-talented woman
after you view her audition!
I considered all of these
coincidences {and many more
that would make this very long
post even longer}
as my hubby and I rode
our bikes this morning.
I was pondering karma,
the cool breeze in my face
as we whizzed along.
Suddenly a man stepped near
the trail with a dog on a leash.
The identical{unusual} breed and
color as the dog we’d seen
in a movie last night.
A movie that absolutely
struck me to the core.
It’s called Hachi: A Dog’s Story
and stars Richard Gere and
the most amazing dog, Forest.
If you love dogs like I do
you must see it!
Well, you could have struck
this karma-coincidence-star-aligned
girl with a feather.
Almost dropped in my
{bicycle} tracks!
Do you believe in coincidence?
Karma?
Same energy frequency?
Or is it
something
more?
Coincidence is the word we use when we can't see the levers and pulleys.
