Tea Tree Oil With Benzoyl Peroxide for Acne

Acne is not just a cosmetic embarrassment; it can leave scars that disfigure your skin. Benzoyl peroxide and tea tree oil are both effective treatments for acne. Mixing the two in a clay facial mask is a great way to reap the benefits of both. Facial masks are fun and easy to make, and keep well in your refrigerator for up to one week.

  • Purchase benzoyl peroxide cream, tea tree oil and natural green clay powder from you local pharmacy, online, herbal chemist, or natural food store. Wash your face with a gentle cleanser to remove makeup, dirt and debris. Pat dry with a towel.

  • Mix the natural green clay powder, a few drops of tea tree oil, and a small squeeze of benzoyl peroxide cream in a bowl. Use your fork to whip the mixture. Slowly, add enough water to make a thick paste.

  • Using your fingertips, or a cotton ball, apply the mask to your face. Avoid the eye and neck area. Allow the mask to dry and form, about 30 minutes.

  • Place cling wrap over the unused mixture, and store it in your fridge , for no more than one week. This mask can be applied once or twice a week.

  • Rinse the mask off with warm water, and gently pat your face dry with a towel. Apply a light, oil-free moisturizer with sun protection  factor to finish.
